We're over the hill from you, in NV, and the last two days have been howling winds (25+mph) which shook the entire apartment building, like an earthquake. But no rain... yet... The snow pack is my fear because, in years past, warm rains have melted that snow and flooded the valley. We, personally, are well above the flood plain, but a large part of the towns of Reno and Sparks are in danger. Strangely, not many appear to be prepped for flooding, but I hope that is because they don't announce it to the rest of the residents.

Its guaranteed that none of these people would even know if a levy were to break until too late. My neighbors are sheep. I fear the worst if it happens.

I recall the valley floods when I lived in CA. We were blocked from getting to our mining claims because I-5 was under water. Be ready to leave and watch news channels.

The way it's been raining... let's hope Jerry Brown didnt get kickbacks on those levies like he did the Oroville dam.

That dam is still not safe. The actual dam is a dirt fill structure and there were reports of leaks last year when they were rebuilding the spill way. It's on my watch list.

I would be real worried about it if I lived in Oroville.

A move to high ground would probably also mean lower insurance rates...

Considering that between Paradise and Oroville they've had some serious news events the last couple years I would hesitate to relocate into that area.

Somebody forgot to pay for the internet connection? Moonbeam Brown perhaps?

Too bad about the poor history of disasters in the area. It is beautiful country and close to the mining claims too, but we can't use gold dredges in CA anymore. I'd still hate to see the area damaged more than it already has been...

If (when?) Oroville dam goes I'll be screwed too.

The rivers are pretty full. The delta smelt must be happy.
