Food Storage Canned Roast Beef Recall

Canned roast beef with gravy sold under a variety of brand names is being recalled for unsafe levels of lead. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as there is no safe blood lead level in humans, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Crider Foods of Stillmore, Georgia. issued the recall for canned roast beef produced on October 22, 2020 and March 15, 2021.

The recall includes 525,717 pounds of canned beef with gravy products sold under the brand names Hargis House, Clover Valley, Kroger, Hostess, Laura Lynn, Armour and Harvest Creek sold at retail locations nationwide. The establishment number “EST. 31812” on the can.

The recalled canned roast beef with gravy products are:
  • Hargis House “ROAST BEEF AND GRAVY” in 12-oz. cans of with best buy dates of 10/22/2022 and 3/15/2023.
  • Clover Valley “FULLY COOKED ROAST BEEF WITH GRAVY” in 12-oz. cans of with best buy dates of 10/22/2022 and 3/15/2023.
  • Kroger “ROAST BEEF WITH GRAVY” in 12-oz. cans owith best buy dates of 10/22/2022 and 3/15/2023.
  • Hostess “ROAST BEEF WITH GRAVY” in 12-oz. cans with best buy dates of 10/22/2022 and 3/15/2023.
  • Laura Lynn “roast beef WITH GRAVY” in 12-oz. cans with best buy dates of 10/22/2022 and 3/15/2023.
  • ARMOUR Roast Beef WITH GRAVY” in 12-oz. cans with best buy dates of 10/22/2022 and 3/15/2023.
  • HARVEST CREEK “Roast Beef with Gravy” in12-oz. cans with best buy dates of 10/22/2022 and 3/15/2023.
The problem was discovered during routine tetsing by state health officials. At the time of the recall, the company was not aware of any illnesses. Consumers who ate these products before the recall should see a health care professional and mention exposure to lead.

But, but, but I need the Lead to protect me from the radiation, right? Right?;)

We don't buy canned beef, so no problem for us, but for everyone who had bought it in the last few months, check the "best buy" dates on your stock.

I like Walmart store brand and Armor brand. Prefer the Armour brand.

That cost me ten cans I was putting back for Mr. Case.
