One point; Do this now, don't wait for a rush on the store because of a crisis.

You don't need to do this in one trip, but plan on it each time you go shopping.

My estimate is that this list of supplies is roughly a 30 to 60 day supply for ONE PERSON... You can ration it for a longer time frame, but assume 30 days and buy according to your funds and how many people you intend to provide for.

You can substitute the name of most large "grocery" stores in place of "Walmart"... Just know which stores are accessible in your neighborhood. Personally, I avoid Safeway, Krogers, etc. They are not the best price point sources. If you find sales, then go for it. If you have a "Big Lots" or similar in you area, check their stock and unit pricing to compare.

That is a very good article. I really appreciate common sense and practical approaches like these. Most of us who have been around for a while are going to agree with this advice and some of us wish that we would have started out like this. Good find.

I haven't had tang in a long time either. We do have lots of other powder drink packets though. Some are better than others.

I used to do Tang, long, long ago and far, far away. There are other high Vit. C mixes available now, some with low sugar content too (which I prefer).

I wish I could grow cinnamon here but that's not going to happen. Turmeric is more easily grown in a window box or greenhouse.

I have, and it died every time (three attempts). I bought it from the local grocery (different stores) and I suspect that it may have been treated to prevent sprouting.
I know there is a local farm which advertises fresh rhizomes from their greenhouse and I may try them next.

We have some "organic" groceries which cater to the local (upper crust/expensive) college crowd. I'll have to check there to see if they offer good seed ginger rhizomes.

Hah, then you'd be labeled as a gang member. Better to just use a shopping list :D

Also Tang is not the only drink mix with Vit. C added.
