I watching for any statement from Trump. Nothing being reported, yet.
Since he cannot trust congress, it will be after-the-fact news of any action vs Iran.

It's about time. They like to have one every generation. WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, now the third "Axis of Evil".

Interesting read. The hosted US troops are gone, THEN the place gets hit. Sounds like someone voted against after they voted for. A way to show your hard core without doing something that could get you a midnight drone visit.

I wonder what the Irani will say about this, this time?
Are they still trying to instigate a larger conflict?
Perhaps to draw Russia/China into the fray?

They have been trying to escalate for years. Some day it might even work.

    Iraq Pulse
Abdul Mahdi urges Kurds to help rid Iraq of US troops

    Read more: https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/or...abdul-mahdi-us-troops-isis.html#ixzz6BDcqlIDd

    Key excerpt;

"At an extraordinary session Jan. 5, Iraq's parliament passed a nonbinding decision urging the Iraqi government to expel all foreign forces from Iraqi territories. However, most Sunni lawmakers, including Kurds, boycotted the parliament session and accused the Shiite blocs of appeasing Iran rather than doing what's best for Iraq.

Despite the dissent, and Washington's refusal to leave, the Iraqi government declared Jan. 14 it will implement parliament’s decision to oust foreign forces from Iraq.'

Apparently, the Kurds said they want the US to remain to prevent a resurgence of ISIS.

My suggested ROE ( Rules Of Engagement ) for the Iranian war.
We surround a target. Give target chance to unconditionally surrender. No surrender, leave not one blackened stone resting on another, go to next target.

If the US leaves Iraq, it is an open invitation to both their internal militants and to Iran to take advantage.
Desert Storm II is a very likely result. Remember the oil wells too. 'Smoke on the Water'...

I actually don't care if they go off killing each other and forming little caliphates all over the place. Let them.

If they could keep their war games internal to their country, I'd be ok, kinda. But the nominal winner usually wants to extend their territory... This has been going on for many centuries, I don't expect it to change.

No, it won't. It especially won't with our troops there. Nobody likes being occupied, and these people will set aside their differences to kill the outsiders first.

If the US pulled our troops and let them fight each other then Iran, which has nukes, will be unable to resist and will use them... And then they look at Israel (who has nukes) as the next target. At that point (nukes), it will become a free-for-all and all bets are off.

If I trusted the US to avoid the use of nukes, then I'd be ok with keeping troops in the area, but I can't say that I have that trust... It is a nasty situation.

    Prepping now.

My take on this is that we will see not only another Ottoman Empire, but another Persian Empire as well, in my lifetime.
